Caramelized Onions
Melt butter and oil together in medium pan or skillet over medium heat. Add in the onions and cook while stirring until the onions start to soften. Season with salt and continue to cook while stirring until the onions start to take on a caramelized color. At this point, mix in a splash of Worcestershire sauce, about 1 to 2 teaspoons (optional but recommended) and continue to cook the onions until it is completely softened and has rich golden brown color, about 6 to 8 minutes in total or longer as needed. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Sauce Topping
In a small mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, sweet relish, caramelized onions and seasonings (salt, black pepper, onion and garlic powder). Mix to combine and set aside.
Beef Layer
In the same pan or skillet used to make the caramelized onions, heat oil under medium high heat. Add in the ground beef and use a large cooking spoon to break the beef into smaller pieces. Mix in the seasonings and mustard. Cook ground beef until it no longer pink but not dry, about 8 to 10 minutes. If ground beef starts dry up before it is fully cooked, add a few splash of water as needed.
Assembly
Into a heatproof bowl or plate, add a portion of the fries. Top with a few cheese slices, about 3 to 4 slices. Melt the cheese in the microwave or air fryer. Layer on top of the cheese some lettuce, a portion of the ground beef, caramelized onions, sauce, pickles and peppers. Finish off the loaded fries with an extra drizzle of sauce and sprinkling of some more of the caramelized onions (optional). Repeat with the remaining ingredients for a total of (3) large or (4) small servings. Enjoy!
