Homemade Tartar Sauce

This Homemade Tartar Sauce recipe is a beautiful blend of creamy, savory and tangy flavors that pairs nicely with a variety of dishes!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons shallots or white onions, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons dill pickles, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons capers, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl, add all of the ingredients and mix until well combined. Use immediately. For longer storage, transfer tartar sauce into an airtight container like a mason jar and store in fridge for 1-2 weeks. 

Notes

  • For a sweeter tartar sauce, replace half or all of the dill pickles with sweet relish.
