Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 3 pounds chicken wings cut into drumettes and flats, patted dry
  • 2 tablespoons avocado or olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder (do not use baking soda)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon pepper season (should include salt), adjust to preference
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Zest (1) large lemon, finely grated
  • Cooking oil spray

Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 6 tablespoons Frank’s hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 lemon pepper season (should include salt)
  • Zest (1) lemon, finely grated, optional but recommended for more prominent lemon flavor

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the wings. Next, add in the baking powder, lemon zest, oil and seasonings (paprika, lemon season, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper). Give the mixture a good mix.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400F and spray some cooking oil into the air fryer basket. Evenly arrange half of the wings, about 8 to 10 wings, in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry the wings for 15 minutes. Use kitchen things or a fork to carefully flip over the wings and then air fryer for an additional 6 to 7 minutes or until the wings are thoroughly cooked. If you were to insert a kitchen thermometer into one of the wings, it should register at least 165F or higher.
  • Transfer the wings to a large plate or baking sheet. Repeat process with the next batch of wings.
  • As the last batch of wings cooks, make the hot honey lemon pepper sauce. In a small saucepan under medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Next, add in the hot sauce, honey and seasonings (paprika, garlic powder, lemon pepper season, and fresh cracked black pepper). Whisk the ingredients together to combine.
  • Bring the sauce to a low boil and cook for 4 to 5 minutes or until the sauce starts to thicken slightly. At this point whisk in the lemon zest, optional. Remove the pan from the heat and let the sauce cool a bit, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the fully cooked wings into a large mixing bowl. Pour the sauce over the wings and give the bowl a good shake a few times to fully coat the wings in the sauce. Alternatively, you can use a spatula to coat the wings in the sauce.
  • Transfer the hot honey lemon pepper wings to a serving platter. Drizzle over the wings any remaining sauce from the mixing bowl and serve the wings with your desired sauce and/or side. Enjoy!
